How do I correct large number of reports?
Sometimes a simple issue can impacts many submitted messages. Here is a quick guide to how to operate on a large number of messages.
Once the issue has been identified, we suggest following the steps below:
- Always correct data using CFTC prescribed workflow detailed in the KOR Knowledge Base
- Ideally corrections should be done using the system of record data so that there is alignment between internal systems and the SDR data (this is also important for the new verification requirements!)
- If SDR data is needed - run a message report with exact criteria to find the data set that needs to be corrected
- Export in JSON or CSV format
- If manipulating the data in Excel - it will need to be converted back JSON to submit to KOR. There are many online tools available to do so (tip - check out youtube)
- Once the data is modified as needed, use action type of CORR (correction) to correct erroneous data using the event timestamp of the message you are correcting or EROR (error) to cancel wrongly submitted entire transaction re-submit using KOR submission API in series. How do Correction messages work?
- Don't forget to retroactively adjust your internal systems of record to match
- Please notify KOR if you are correcting large (over 2 or 3 times your daily averages) volumes of data to ensure we can monitor your progress and help as needed.
